Five teenagers died in a head-on collision after driving a BMW the wrong way on the M9 northbound near Junction 3 in County Kildare at approximately 03:00 on Sunday. The other vehicle carried a family from Carlow, including a 7-year-old boy, with multiple occupants hospitalized in critical or serious condition. Gardaí had attempted multiple stops and deployed stinger devices before being instructed to disengage from the pursuit.
